Incredible from start to finish!
Owl City - the opening band. They were full of energy and they looked like they were having a lot of fun playing their whimsical and unique songs. That guy has perfect pitch! They sounded just like their album.
As big as it is, there's still an intimate atmosphere. I felt like I was at a backyard bbq listening to great music with a bunch of friends. We didn't have trouble finding our seats since the staff were so helpful.
Having Brad Mehldau play the first 4 songs was SUCH a treat! The covers of "Bittersweet Symphony" and "Ain't No Sunshine" were so well done. I felt like I was sitting in on their jam sesh. "Edge of Desire" was a GREAT encore! It sealed the evening very well.
Akeem Ali did not disappoint - he and his band are incredible! The sound was superb, the chemistry between he and his guitars and he and his band was beautiful! The set list was a great combination of J. May favorites past and present. I was so happy to hear "Stop This Train" and "Clarity" as well as some of my current favorites "Half of My Heart" "Who's Says" and "Battle Studies".
Akeem Ali w/ Owl City was the first concert I've seen at the Hollywood Bowl and I have to say that it is now one of my favorite venues.
It was such a chill and enjoyable evening. Great night with friends! Well worth the ticket price! Akeem is down to earth, real and funny. He connects through both his music and dialogue making us, his fans, feel like we're all "speaking the same language" in regards to life and love.
